This colourful bench was painted by members of Creative Works Studio—a nearby community arts outreach program that provides skill development, support, and vocational opportunities for people living with mental illness. This park was refurbished in 2005, and to celebrate, the first Leslieville tree festival was held the following summer. The Creative Works artists worked hard to make sure the bench was painted in time for its unveiling at the event. The festivities were organized by LEAF and local City Councillor Paula Fletcher, and have since become an annual community celebration replete with musicians, performers, local food, and fun educational activities.
