Bain Co-operative
The Bain Co-operative is a charming enclave of low-rise buildings, nestled in the heart of Riverdale. The apartments, originally named Riverdale Courts, were built between 1913 and 1925 by the Toronto Housing Authority, an organization of local philanthropists, businessmen and politicians.
Dovercourt Park and Neighbourhood
The Dovercourt Park neighbourhood began as the Village of Dovercourt in the 1870s. At that time, the area was made up of market farms on one-acre lots, and the residents of these farms grew fruits and vegetables to sell in town.
Green Roofs and Trees Tour
In past century, Spadina Avenue has been an area of continuous change and constant remodelling, both commercially and demographically. Each community has left an indelible mark on Spadina Avenue giving it a richly interwoven, eclectic charm.
Lawrence Park
New life has been breathed into the neighbourhood's urban forest canopy in recent years by efforts of the Lawrence Park Ratepayer's Association. Every May the group holds an arbor day festival where local residents learn about proper tree care, enjoy each other's company, and celebrate the wonderful trees that grace their neighbourhood.
Leslieville
Leslieville began as a small village in the 1850's that grew up around the Toronto Nurseries owned by George Leslie and sons. The story of this contemporary village is not one derived from first glances or cursory footfalls. Leslieville is about daring dashes and hazy retreats, mysterious furniture stores, darling finds, eccentric back ways of feline intrigue.
Parkdale
Giant white pines once towered over the mixed hardwood forest that covered the area now known as Parkdale. A rich and turbulent history has shaped the community into a strong, diverse neighbourhood determined to save the remaining vestiges of green along the western waterfront.
St. Lawrence Neighbourhood
Beset by constant change since the first colonial arrivals, the St. Lawrence neighbourhood is a checkered tale of development and nature coexisting in a dense urban area.
Trinity Bellwoods
Trinity Bellwoods is a vibrant park. On a warm summer's day it teems with people: dog-walkers, frolicking children, parents pushing strollers, lounging hipsters, and bouncing tennis players.
