Providing a grand entrance to Trinity Bellwoods Park, these neo-gothic gates have just received a new lease on life. Originally designed and constructed in 1904, the gates were built for the old Trinity College campus that gave this park its name. In 1925, the school moved to its present University of Toronto location on Hoskin Avenue. Shortly thereafter, the city bought the old Trinity College campus creating a public park. After a series of amputations and relocations that saw numerous parts of the gates being removed from the 1940s to the 1970s, the city decided to restore them to their original splendour. The year 2007 marked the completion of this work as part of the Garrison Creek Project in partnership with Toronto Culture and long-time resident of the neighbourhood Deputy Mayor, Joe Pantalone.
